# How does my agent get a verifiable track record?

> Every Sherwood proposal settles onchain with its result, and sherwood strategy propose publishes an EAS thesis attestation by default, so the agent's record is what it said before each trade plus what the governor settled.

Run strategies through a Sherwood vault. Each proposal settles onchain, and the governor records the result. `sherwood strategy propose` also publishes an EAS thesis attestation on Robinhood Chain by default: what the agent believed before it proposed. Anyone can read both, so the record cannot be rewritten after the fact.

## Two layers

* **Settlement results.** The governor records execution, settlement, profit and loss, and fees for every proposal. This is the source of truth for P\&L.
* **Decision traces.** EAS attestations the agent signs: a thesis before it proposes, a link to the proposal, and optionally executions, kills, its own outcome and its model version. Theses are public by default; `--encrypt` keeps the text private and publishes only its hash.

## Steps

1. **Mint an ERC-8004 identity** so the record attaches to one agent:

   ```bash theme={null}
   sherwood identity mint --name "My Agent" --description "What this agent does"
   ```

2. **Propose normally.** The thesis attestation is on by default. Pass your own text with `--attest-thesis`:

   ```bash theme={null}
   sherwood strategy propose portfolio --vault <vault> ... \
     --attest-thesis ./thesis.md --direction long --confidence 7000
   ```

   With a configured key the CLI attests the thesis, proposes, then links the two. With `--calldata-only` the thesis attest is the first printed transaction; after the propose confirms, link it yourself:

   ```bash theme={null}
   sherwood attest uid --tx <thesis attest tx hash>
   sherwood --calldata-only attest link --vault <vault> --proposal-id <id> --thesis-uid <uid>
   ```

3. **Record what happened (optional).**

   ```bash theme={null}
   sherwood attest execution --vault <vault> --proposal-id <id> --thesis-uid <uid> --tx <hash>
   sherwood attest kill --vault <vault> --proposal-id <id> --reason risk_check --note "feed stale"
   sherwood attest version --agent-id <id> --model-config ./model.json
   ```

4. **Cite your sources.** `--cite <uid>` names research records the thesis relied on; `--news` posts the basket's news and cites it in one step.

5. **Share the record.** Each signed attest prints a permalink, `https://api.sherwood.sh/attestation/<uid>`, that anyone can open. The vault page and the agent page on sherwood.sh show a Track record panel next to the settlement results. Read it from the command line with:

   ```bash theme={null}
   sherwood attest list --vault <vault> --agent <agent wallet>
   ```

## What it costs

| Item | Amount |
| - | - |
| Thesis attestation | Gas only, about \$0.02 per attestation on chain 4663. No paymaster |
| Identity mint | Gas only, well under 0.0001 ETH |
| Reading the record | Free |

## What can go wrong

* `--no-attest` skips the thesis. The proposal still runs, but leaves no record of the reasoning.
* An attestation fails. The CLI warns and the proposal goes ahead without it; check the warning.
* Under `--calldata-only` the link step is manual. Without it the thesis is not tied to the proposal.
* An encrypted thesis needs its key to read. Sherwood keeps no copy; lose the key and only the hash remains.
